Why Now
The future is undeniably queer. Currently, more than half of LGBTQ+ adults identify as bisexual and projections show that LGBTQ+ individuals will soon surpass 10% of the U.S. population. Younger generations are refusing to stay in binary buckets of gender and sexuality, reflected in the 28% of Gen Z identifying as LGBTQ+. The need for friendly ‘edu-tainment’ to answer questions about gender and sexuality has never been more urgent.
“OUT with Fiona” responds to this call by sharing uplifting stories of kindness and courage from diverse voices across the LGBTQIA2S+ spectrum. In a time of cultural division, Emmy®-nominated filmmaker, Fiona Dawson, builds empathy and fosters unity, proving that personal narratives can bridge divides and inspire change. The time for “OUT with Fiona” is now—as this show has the power to heal and bring us all together.
Why Fiona
Fiona builds empathy. She is an Emmy®-nominated and award-winning filmmaker, and a proud bisexual, cisgender, immigrant woman living with a non-apparent disability, who uses media to advance equity. She is a passionate believer in the power of personal storytelling to educate, entertain, and inspire.
Fiona grew up in the United Kingdom, but moved to Texas 24 years ago. Her home in Austin is a camper she’s named Audrey, after her muse Audrey Hepburn.
Fiona journeys around Texas with Audrey sharing her own personal story involving various crossroads of triumph and adversity. Fiona’s superpower is her natural talent of connecting with people, helping them reveal their own experiences, and facilitating their relationship with others. She has a way of addressing adverse and seemingly complex subjects with humor and ease. You could say Fiona is the bisexual, female, version of Mr. Rogers. “OUT with Fiona” is here to heal.
